Grenna Museum

Where to find us

Grenna Museum is a part of Grenna Kulturgård, which is centrally located in Gränna next to the town square. The address is Brahegatan 38.

The museum can be reached from three different entrances: the one from Brahegatan, from the parking lot at the town square and from Bergsgatan, where the library also has its entrance.

Parking

The closest parking lot is on the town square, north of the museum. The parking spaces are free of charge, but have a time limit. Keep in mind that the town square has a steep incline and is paved with cobblestones.

Parking for buses

Parking for busses can be found in Gränna harbour. From there it takes roughly 15 minutes to walk to the museum. If consideration is shown towards local regular traffic, it is possible to stop at the Braheparken bus stop outside the museum to drop off and pick up the group.

Bus

The closes bus stop is Gränna Braheparken. You can get there with bus 120 (from Tranås), 121 and 122 (from Jönköping).

Cancellation and changes of a booking

Cancellation must be made no later than three days before the booked activity. If cancellation has not taken place before the start time of the activity, the cost of the activity will be invoiced.

Communicate any changes to the booking as soon as possible, either through e-mail or telephone.

At arrival

The person responsible for the group registers the group at the reception upon arrival.

Next to the reception there is a cloakroom with storage cupboards and toilets. Large bags and backpacks may not be taken into the exhibition for safety reasons. The exhibition is on two floors, access to a lift is available. Assistance dogs are welcome on the premises.

If the group is delayed: contact us as soon as possible. Be aware that other groups may have booked a viewing after you and that the group that arrive at their appointed time is given priority.

During the viewing

During the viewing, we appreciate if mobile phones are switched off and that you do not take photographs or film while the activity is in progress.

Entrance fees

The entrance price per person is the same for individual visitors as for groups. You can find information about our entrance fees here.

The following people have free entry:

  • Tour guides
  • Bus drivers
  • Educators
  • Personal assistants/companions
  • Pupils within the municipality of Jönköping (grades F–9) who visit the museum together with their class.
Schools

You as a teacher are responsible for the group throughout the visit. Always walk with your students. Feel free to use our educational worksheets.

Show respect to other visitors. Several groups can be visiting the museum at the same time, so remember to keep the volume down.

In the exhibitions

Keep in mind that artwork and objects must not be touched.

If you want to take photos, please remember that the images may not be used for publication or commercial use, but only for private use. Taking a photo with flash is not allowed as it damages objects through its brightness.

Food, sweets, drinks and ice cream may not be brought into the exhibitions.

Availability

The exhibition in the Polarcenter is divided into two floors that can be reached by stairs or elevator.

Next to the reception there is a cloakroom with storage cupboards. There are also toilets here, one of which is a toilet adapted for people with a mobility impairement. Nursing room can be found upstairs, next to Gränna library.

To avoid stairs, you can park in the town square and enter via the entrance there. Keep in mind that the town square has a steep incline and is paved with cobblestones. Another option is to briefly stop at Bergsgatan and enter through that entrance. From there you take the elevator down one floor to the museum.

In Franckska gården, where we have our local history exhibitions, there are ramps to get over high thresholds with, for example, a wheelchair. However, the building itself is quite cramped and the rooms are small. This is because the building is from the 17th century.

Where to find us

By car: Take the exit on E4 towards Gränna (exit 104) and drive towards Tranås at the roundabout. Drive past the driveway towards the E4 and then take the first left. By foot: From Södra parken in Gränna there is a staircase that leads up the mountain. From there you will arrive directly at the Friluftsmuseum and Kaffestugan.

Parking

The parking lot is about a 250 meter walk from the friluftsmuseum and Kaffestugan. For people with a mobility impairement, it is possible to continue driving all the way to the front and park right next to the Kaffestugan.

Kaffestugan

Next to the Friluftsmuseum is Kaffestugan, where they serve coffee and sandwiches. the Friluftmuseum is available for visits all year round, but the cabins are only open during Kaffestugan’s opening hours. They are usually open from May to August. See their website for detailed information.
