About the museum

Take the opportunity to experience all sides of Gränna with a visit to the Grenna Museum. Here, experiences from both Gränna and the polar world are collected. Inside the entrance to Grenna Kulturgård there is always an interesting exhibition in the Gallery. In the Gallery you can see temporary exhibitions with photos, sculptures, paintings or exhibitions about local historical events.

In the Polarcenter, there is a base exhibition covering two floors about, among other things, S A Andrée’s polar expedition. In addition to S A Andrée’s polar expedition, you can also take part in several other polar expeditions and contemporary polar research. Did you know that we also have the country’s largest and finest collection of polar history objects?

The local history exhibition is in Franckska gården – Gränna’s oldest house, from the middle of the 17th century. You will find Franckska gården in the museum garden. In there, of course, you get to meet Amalia Erikson, mother of the polkargris (“polka pig”), you can read about Gränna city over a decade and about people from Gränna’s history. You can also experience Gränna through a number of films, dated from the 1930s to the 1960s.

Feel free to take a look around in our museum shop! Here you will find books where you can delve further into the topics we cover in our exhibitions, you can also find stationery, interior design, jewellery, posters as well as toys and much more.

Grenna Museum also offers those who need a relaxed place for a conference to rent our premises, which are well suited for lectures as well as events and gatherings. Please contact us for more details.

We wish you a warm welcome!
